Senior Buyer 100% (m/w)

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Head of Operations Switzerland you are responsible for:

  • Lead project purchasing activities, ensuring that all procurement aligns with project timelines, requirements, and budgets.
  • Negotiate and manage the supplier base to meet cost targets for projects and OEM business
  • Manage and optimize the supplier portfolio, conducting thorough assessments to ensure suppliers meet the company's standards for quality, cost, delivery, and compliance together with the US site
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions that align with company objectives and mitigate risk
  • Work closely in / with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory Affairs, to align procurement strategies with project goals and regulatory requirements (Approved Supplier list)
  • Representation of the purchasing interests in the product development process (supplier selection, specification/drawing availability, meeting cost targets and manufacturing deadlines)
  • Provide leadership and direction to the operational buyer, setting objectives, offering guidance, and evaluating performance to ensure operational excellence in procurement.
  • Ensure procurement best practices are applied, continuous optimization of processes, methods, performance measurements, use of digitalization and automatization
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including FDA, ISO 13485, and other relevant standards, throughout the procurement process
  • Maintenance of ERP procurement master data and handling of purchase orders in the ERP system
  • Participation in supplier qualification and development as well as supplier audits
  • Issuing and follow-up on supplier quality claims
Qualifications:
  • Completed technical and/or commercial education with further education in Supply chain Management
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in (technical) procurement or supply chain management
  • Strong technical understanding (understand technical drawings and specifications)
  • Proven ability to manage complex supplier relationships and negotiate contracts that achieve cost savings and operational efficiencies.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in project-based work and collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing direct reports.
  • Fluent English and German is a must
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience within the medical device industry would be an advantage
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Mild to moderate travel is required for maintaining supplier base
