The Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel (IOB) is seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatician / Computational Biologist to analyse single cell genomics data, with a focus on the molecular mechanisms of myopia.
IOB is a research institute associated with the University of Basel which combines basic and clinical research. Its mission is to drive innovations in understanding vision and its diseases and develop new therapies for vision loss.
Due to myopia’s rising prevalence, it will become the leading cause of blindness worldwide, constituting one of the most significant public health challenges of our time. IOB uses state of the art single cell genomics and epigenomics techniques to advance the mechanistic understanding of myopia at the level of cell types and molecular pathways, and to test new therapies designed to halt or reverse myopia progression. In your role, you will utilise your expertise to collaborate with a multidisciplinary international team and contribute towards major breakthroughs in Human Medicine.
