We are expanding the Embedded Software Development department and hiring for our Dietikon location a Software Application Engineer 100 %
In this role, you will develop high-quality software applications that interface with our optoelectronic modules and create test systems for both prototype development and production environments.
What you can expect:
- Design and implementation of user-friendly software solutions for direct interaction with our optoelectronic hardware, comprising sensors, actuators and microcontroller units (MCUs).
- Develop robust control algorithms to manage hardware operations and ensure precise functionality
- Troubleshoot and optimize software-hardware interfaces to enhance system performance and reliability
- Build intuitive user interfaces and backend services for test automation and reporting
- Create and maintain test systems for prototype validation and end-of-line testing in production
- Develop control software for clients to use with prototype modules during evaluation phases
- Interface directly with customers to gather feedback and implement software improvements
- Develop data acquisition, analysis, and visualization tools for our engineering teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement of test methodologies and quality assurance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform requirements into technical specifications
Your profile:
- Apprenticeship Informatics, a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent
- 5+ years experience in application software development, preferably in instrumentation or test systems
- Strong proficiency in Python (primary requirement), with knowledge of other languages (C, C#, Java) as a plus
- Experience with data visualization libraries and GUI frameworks (Must PyQt, Matplotlib, etc.)
- Strong customer communication skills and ability to translate feedback into technical solutions
- Background in software for data acquisition, instrument control, or automated testing
- Knowledge of database design and implementation (SQL, NoSQL)
- Understanding of software integration with hardware systems
- Proven experience in developing software for hardware interaction, including sensors, actuators, and MCUs
- Ability to design and implement control systems for hardware components is a must
- Experience with software development for regulated environments (IEC 62304) is beneficial but not required
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Professional communication skills in English, both written and verbal
